Crowell & Moring LLP is seeking a Senior Counsel to join the International Trade practice in its Washington, D.C. office.
Key job responsibilities:
- Advise and strategize with clients on legal issues related to U.S.-China trade policies, customs, tariffs, export controls, sanctions, and international cybersecurity and data privacy issues related to cloud transactions, computing, encryption, telecommunications, and collection, processing, storage and cross-border transfer of data.
- Represent clients in customs audits and in matters involving seizures, forfeiture, and other enforcement actions.
- Defend clients in customs audit and investigation cases; create business strategies to optimize supply chain models; develop corporate compliance procedures; and provide training, conduct internal audits or investigations and navigate self-disclosure to customs and other regulatory agencies.
Minimum Requirements:
The position requires J.D or L.L.M degree from a U.S. law school and a license to practice law in at least one state in the U.S. Six (6) years of experience as a practicing lawyer.
Experience must include the following experience and skills:
- 6 years working on US-China trade matters
- Knowledge of WTO law
- Specialization in U.S.-China trade policies, customs, tariffs, export controls and sanctions primarily for multinational clients with operations or supply chain in China, and familiarity with the complex regulations governing data transfers between China and the United States
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Professional, cite checking
- Knowledge of LEXIS/Westlaw
- Occasional domestic and international travel
