Steptoe LLP seeks a 3rd – 5th year associate to join our Export Controls and Economic Sanctions team within the International Trade and Regulatory Compliance practice group in our Washington, DC office. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience in U.S. export controls and economic sanctions, including work with the U.S. Departments of State, Treasury, and/or Commerce, as well as familiarity with ITAR, EAR, and OFAC regulations.This is an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking a high level of responsibility with a practice group that is consistently ranked in Band 1 by Chambers. Our associates work on sophisticated matters, and have direct contact with clients. Candidates must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a solid understanding of the relevant legal environment, persuasive writing abilities, an ability to work well under pressure and a willingness to travel internationally. Candidates with quantitative capabilities, an accounting and/or economics background, and facility with Excel, are preferred. The expected salary for this position is $260,000 - $365,000, depending on experience.
