Rutan & Tucker is looking to add a 4–6-year associate attorney to its intellectual property practice.In This Role, the Successful Candidate's Responsibilities Will Include:
- Working directly with a wide variety of domestic and international clients in developing and managing their IP portfolio, including a significant amount of global trademark prosecution
- Providing day-to-day guidance on the IP aspects of client businesses such as counseling during the product-development process and providing advertising and packaging clearance
- Drafting IP-related business agreements and supporting the firm's corporate department in relation to business transactions that implicate various aspects of intellectual property
- Assist in the enforcement of intellectual property rights online including working with online retail platforms, social media platforms to protect the client's rights, as well as handling formal domain-name dispute proceedings
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Minimum 4-6 years of trademark prosecution and IP transaction experience
- Significant experience handling trademark clearance, prosecution, counseling, and enforcement for domestic and international trademark portfolios with a general understanding of jurisdictional differences worldwide.
- Demonstrated experience conducting comprehensive global and domestic trademark clearance searches and reviewing and advising on comprehensive searches
- Strong contract drafting skills with experience negotiating and drafting IP-related business agreements including licenses, co-existence agreements, and right of publicity/NIL/influencer agreements, manufacturing and distribution agreements, as well as the IP-related terms of larger business transaction agreements
- Experience handling online IP enforcement and brand protection proceedings including takedowns on social media and online retail platforms, DMCA notices, and domain name disputes, including UDRPs.
- Performing IP due diligence in corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, and financing events
- Product and advertising review and clearance
- Experience communicating with a diverse clientele, from laypeople to highly experienced legal professionals, tailoring communications to each client's specific needs and level of understanding
- Experience communicating with clients and legal professionals around the world
- Working knowledge of copyright law (prosecution experience is helpful)
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Active membership and good standing in at least one State Bar
- Strong research, analytical, grammar, and writing skills
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and prioritize under tight time constraints

Position open to part-time*
Salary Range: $220k-$250k
