Curious, inquisitive and unbound by tradition, we're building change within our sector and beyond.It starts with our people, which is why we need an Employment & Labor Associate with 5–8 years of litigation experience, specifically in wage and hour class actions, Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) claims, and California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in defending employers in complex employment litigation and advising clients on compliance strategies to mitigate risk.
You'll be responsible for:
- Manage all aspects of litigation, including case strategy, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
- Defend employers in wage and hour class actions and representative PAGA claims in both state and federal courts.
- Handle FEHA claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination.
- Conduct exposure analyses and audits related to wage and hour compliance.
- Represent clients before administrative agencies such as the EEOC, DFEH, and DLSE.
- Draft and argue dispositive motions, including motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment.
- Collaborate with clients across industries including retail, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, and staffing.
- Provide strategic counseling to employers on employment policies, arbitration agreements, and litigation avoidance.
Skills and experience required:
- J.D. from an accredited law school; strong academic credentials.
- Licensed to practice in California.
- 5+ years of labor and employment litigation experience.
- Demonstrated success in defending wage and hour class actions and PAGA claims.
- Experience with FEHA litigation and administrative proceedings.
- Proven track record of successful outcomes in high-stakes employment litigation.
- Strong analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to client service and responsiveness.
- Experience defeating class certification and representative claims.
- Experience taking and defending depositions.

Pursuant to the California pay transparency laws, BCLP is posting a reasonable estimate of a compensation range for an Associate with five to eight years of experience. At the time of posting, the estimated range is $250,000 to $355,000. Actual compensation will be influenced by various factors, including but not limited to the level of relevant experience, skill sets, training, licensure and certifications, internal equity, market data, and other job-related factors permitted by law. The range is based on a full-time work schedule.
