We are seeking an experienced, professional, and dynamic in-house legal counsel to join our team in Samford, CT. Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to the organization on a wide range of legal matters.
  • Guide the organizations employment needs and strategies – under the unique challenges that home healthcare presents.
  • You'll navigate various aspects of employment law, including contracts, discrimination issues, wage and hour regulations, employee benefits, and workplace safety. You'll also be involved in drafting and reviewing employment agreements, policies, and compliance procedures to ensure the company operates within legal boundaries. Additionally, you'll likely handle disputes, investigations, and provide training to employees on legal matters.
  • Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Particularly with the subsidiary tech companies – assisting in creating privacy policies, terms of use, client contacts, etc.
  • Manage litigation matters, including working with external counsel as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards across all companies – this may include everything from how PII and PHI is handle in accordance to HIPAA, to how the tech companies navigate GDPR compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address legal issues and support business objectives.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in Connecticut or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.
  • 5+ years of experience practicing law, with a focus on corporate or commercial law.
  • Strong background in employment law is essential.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in healthcare, particularly home health is preferred – any experience with technology would be a plus.
