Description:

About United Public Adjusters & Appraisers
At United Public Adjusters & Appraisers, Inc., we are licensed public adjusters who advocate exclusively for policyholders. We help families and businesses navigate complex property damage claims and fight to ensure they receive the recovery they deserve.

We are not a law firm and do not provide legal representation. However, as we expand, we are seeking an In-House Insurance Coverage Attorney to strengthen our claims advocacy through policy analysis, legal strategy support, and collaboration with outside counsel when required.

The Role:
We are hiring an In-House Insurance Coverage Attorney with at least 4 years of experience in insurance coverage or property damage litigation. This role is focused on supporting our advocacy efforts for policyholders, not on direct client representation.

Responsibilities:
  • Review and interpret commercial and residential property insurance policies.
  • Draft coverage analyses, opinions, and internal strategy memoranda.
  • Collaborate with public adjusters, estimators, and forensic accountants to strengthen claims.
  • Provide legal insight and support in preparation for appraisal, mediation, or litigation with outside counsel.
  • Anticipate carrier defenses and support proactive case strategy.
  • Stay current on New York insurance coverage law and relevant case decisions.

Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • New York Bar admission required (other states a plus).
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in insurance coverage law or property damage litigation.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analysis skills.
  • Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Alignment with our mission: advocating for policyholders.

What we offer:
  • Competitive base salary: $150,000 – $200,000+ depending on experience.
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Leadership growth potential within a rapidly expanding firm.
  • A mission-driven culture focused on advocacy, empathy, and results.
