Position Summary:
Ogletree Deakins seeks a California-licensed attorney to serve as limited-scope hearing counsel for single-claimant misclassification arbitration matters. The engagement is narrowly tailored to preparing for and handling an arbitration hearing, which consists of:
  • Preparing for the hearing using a pre-generated opening statement and cross examination outline
  • Delivering a pre-generated opening statement
  • Conducting a single cross-examination
  • Addressing evidentiary issues during the hearing

The hearing is expected to last 2–4 hours, with approximately 1 hour of preparation. All case materials and a hearing outline will be provided, and preparation time will be limited to this defined scope.

Requirements:
  • Active California law license in good standing (and jurisdiction of residence if required).
  • Minimum one year of litigation experience preferred; relevant experience through internships or similar case management may be considered.
  • Strong oral advocacy, arbitration presence, and time management.
  • Ability to quickly internalize provided materials and execute a focused plan.
  • Commitment to limited-scope representation parameters.
  • High level of self-motivation and responsiveness in a remote setting.

Benefits:
In accordance with applicable laws and regulations, as of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current scale range for this position in California is $200 - $500 per hearing. Placement in the range will be determined based on factors such as internal equity, market data, and the candidate's experience and skills. New York State position is between $200 to $500 per hearing

Baltimore position is between $200 to $500 per hearing

Washington DC position is between $200 to $500 per hearing

Washington position is between $200 to $500 per hearing

llinois position is between $200 to $500 per hearing

Minnesota position is between $200 to $500 per hearing

Maryland position is between $200 to $500 per hearing

New Jersey position is between $200 to $500 per hearing

Compensation:
  • $200 - $500 per hearing
  • Independent contractor status (This role does not qualify for benefits).
  • Payment upon timely delivery per assignment terms.
