Position Overview: Immigration Associate Attorney

We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Immigration Associate Attorney to join our team. The successful candidate will focus primarily on removal defense in immigration court, providing representation to clients facing deportation proceedings. As an associate, you will play a critical role in our mission to uphold the rights and dignity of our clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Represent clients in all phases of removal defense proceedings including bond hearings, master calendar hearings, and individual merits hearings.
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Advise clients on their rights and legal options in the face of deportation.
  • Prepare and submit applications for relief from removal, including asylum, cancellation of removal, waivers, and adjustment of status.
  • Collaborate with legal staff to collect evidence, prepare witnesses, and build strong cases for defense.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in immigration laws and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and organizational procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Must be a licensed attorney in good standing to apply.
  • Admission to practice law from any state in the U.S. (New York preferred)
  • Immigration law experience required, especially in the area of removal defense. The ideal candidate will be registered with EOIR and will be able to practice before the immigration court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Exceptional writing, research, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to immigration advocacy and a passion for social justice.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently or as part of a team;
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain complete and accurate data, with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Spreadsheets, Google Calendar
  • Knowledge of immigration case file systems like eImmigration (Cerenade), LawLogix, or INSZoom.
  • Familiarity with productivity and messaging platforms like RingCentral or Slack.
