An Indianapolis-Based Immigration Firm is an Indianapolis-based immigration firm committed to serving the immigrant community. We are seeking an Associate Attorney with a heart and passion to help immigrants and a desire to thrive in a large, team-oriented immigration practice. To succeed in this role, you will need to possess enthusiasm for immigration law, strong interpersonal and communication skills, exceptional research, writing, and time management skills, and the ability to work independently with little supervision. Fluency in both Spanish and English is highly preferred but we are willing to interview candidates who do not speak Spanish but are otherwise experienced in the field of immigration law.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Appear in immigration court representing clients in removal proceedings, both in the Chicago Immigration Court and via telephone or WebEx video proceedings at firm's office in Indianapolis.
  • Meet regularly and communicate effectively with clients. Prepare clients for trial.
  • Conduct client consultations.
  • Assist in management of cases involving clients detained in ICE custody.
  • Conduct effective legal research.
  • Responsible for overseeing and reviewing casework involving immigration applications, petitions, and waivers that are filed with the Immigration Court, USCIS, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
  • Compose legal documents, such as complex briefs, appeals, and motions.

Qualifications:
  • Must be a licensed attorney in good standing to apply; Juris Doctorate required.
  • Immigration law experience required.The ideal candidate will be experience in removal defense; however, we are willing to train applicants with any immigration-related experience.
  • Fluent in Spanish (reading, writing, speaking) strongly preferred but not required.
  • Passion for immigration law.

  • Be self-motivated, intellectually curious, and possess a strong work ethic.
  • Enjoy continuous learning in a fast-paced and friendly work environment.

immigration law: 1 year (Required)

Language:
Spanish and English fluently (Preferred)

License/Certification:
  • license as an accredited attorney in the USA (Required)
