Description:
Five Core Responsibilities:- Intial consultations with new clients (in person, via phone, and via zoom)
- Litigating court cases (Immigration court and local family court)
- Case work and research for current clients, preparing for hearings and interviews
- Accompanying clients to immigration appointments (USCIS interviews, ICE check ins)
- Reviewing legal assistant work for quality assurance
Other responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with colleagues and support staff to ensure effective case management
- Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to the practice area
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the state bar association
- Passion for immigrant and refugee communities
- Fluency in a 2nd language (preferred)
- 1-3 years of experience in family-based immigration law (preferred)
- 5-10% travel outside Columbus
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
- Proficiency in legal drafting and document preparation
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team
