Reporting directly to the Managing Director-An American Manufacturing Company Ventures, and joining the leadership team, the Head of Legal will oversee all legal, regulatory, compliance, and policy matters globally, providing counsel to the Managing Director and their leadership team, Board of Directors, CEO, and other senior management. Managing regulatory and product Quality functions. Working with An American Manufacturing Company Legal, Compliance, and Intellectual Property as well as external counselors. Specific Responsibilities:
  • Be the strategic partner to the Managing Director and leadership team on legal, compliance, regulatory, privacy & security, intellectual property, litigation and risk management matters.
  • Partner cross-functionally with teams (Strategy, Operations, Engineering, Advanced R&D, Clinical Research, Product, People, Security, Commercial, etc.) to assess potential legal and regulatory requirements for our products, technologies and services.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team that will support the accomplishment of our business objectives. This includes resources focused on health regulatory affairs (FDA, HIPAA), compliance and regulatory quality.
  • Review/draft a variety of vendor, partner and customer agreements in the areas of business operations, as well as clinical studies and trials.
  • Provide business-oriented solutions that support our business strategy and mitigate risk.
  • Manage outside counsel and professional services firms especially in the areas of clinical trials, regulatory submissions, global trade and compliance.

Skills/Requirements
  • J.D. degree and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • 10+ years of experience as corporate counsel, either in-house or at a top-tier law firm.
  • Experience managing legal risk across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Broad legal knowledge and experience developing legal strategies in the tech and/or wellness and/or health spaces.
  • Appetite for developing innovative solutions in support of strategic business initiatives and objectives.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills; ability to translate complex legal matters effectively and clearly.
  • Experience operating affectively in a rapidly changing environment with a strong ability to manage risk.
  • Ability to hold teams accountable. Ability to advocate for the goals of the organization while soliciting feedback from multiple stakeholders.
  • Global experience supporting product development and/or go-to-market strategies.
  • Previous experience with startups or working in a start-up environment preferred.
