We are seeking a strategic and experienced legal professional to lead our Legal Department as Head of Legal. This role is ideal for a candidate with 8-10 years of progressive legal counsel experience including leadership responsibilities, who thrives in a dynamic business environment and is passionate about aligning legal strategy with organizational goals. This role involves working closely with external legal counsel, developing dispute resolution strategies, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines.
The ideal candidate should have a strong legal background, excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with various departments within the organization, and manage relationships with external legal counsel.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the legal function across all business units, ensuring compliance with laws and and regulations.
- Provide expert legal advice to senior leadership on corporate, commercial, employment, and regulatory matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
- Oversee litigation, dispute resolution, and external counsel relationships.
- Manage external legal budgets and expenses to achieve significant cost reductions.
- Develop and implement legal policies, procedures, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Monitor changes in legislation and assess their impact on the business.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations in the construction and manufacturing industry.
- Train and mentor internal teams on legal best practices and compliance.
- Support M&A activity, joint ventures, corporate governance and board-level reporting.
- Maintain corporate records and ensure compliance with corporate formalities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree; current Nevada State Bar license.
- 8-10 years of legal practice experience, preferably in both law firm and in-house setting, with a focus on contracts, compliance, and corporate governance.
- Strong knowledge of construction and manufacturing industry regulations is a plus.
- Proven leadership in managing legal teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High integrity, sound judgment, and business acumen.
