Job Summary:
The General Counsel will be responsible for handling all legal aspects related to collection delinquencies that require litigation, drafting insurance appeal templates, managing litigation communications with insurance companies, and maintaining correspondence with customers. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare law, insurance disputes, and financial collections to protect the organization's financial interests effectively.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Lead legal actions against parties failing to meet their financial obligations, including litigation related to collection delinquencies.
  • Create and update insurance company appeal templates to ensure they meet current legal standards and effectively address coverage or payment denials.
  • Draft and send legal communications, including demand letters and settlement offers, to insurance companies.
  • Manage customer correspondence related to account inquiries, ensuring all communication is clear, professional, and legally compliant.
  • Provide legal advice to finance and administrative teams on healthcare law, insurance disputes, and collections.
  • Negotiate and resolve complex disputes with insurance companies and other parties.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proficient in drafting legal documents, including appeals, demand letters, and litigation briefs.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal staff.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry regulations and insurance law.

Education and Experience:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of employment.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare law, with a specific focus on litigation, insurance disputes, and financial collections.
  • Previous experience working within the healthcare industry preferred.
