Role Overview:
A Cyber Security Risk Management Company is looking for talented lawyers who are passionate about building a holistic cyber risk management model, combining security and insurance into a single offering. A Cyber Security Risk Management Company is seeking a highly-motivated cyber insurance or privacy attorney to join its global Claims and Incident Management team. Reporting to the Head of Claims, North America, this individual should have significant experience handling cyber claims and/or fluency with the incident response process. Further insurance experience in first-party as well as third-party claims and coverage, particularly Tech E&O, is a plus. This role offers the opportunity to influence the strategy for claims and incident management within a growing company. The successful candidate will collaborate with highly skilled team members across the organization to provide the A Cyber Security Risk Management Company Solution to our customers.

Responsibilities:
  • Act as the lead within the A Cyber Security Risk Management Company Claims' internal emergency response team.
  • Efficiently conduct investigations, negotiations, and oversee the management of cyber and Technology Errors & Omissions claims.
  • Apply expertise in insurance contracts, claims investigations, and vendor management to recommend appropriate claim reserves.
  • Evaluate primary and excess coverage, determine coverage, and prepare coverage-related communications.
  • Work in collaboration with A Cyber Security Risk Management Company security and technology teams to offer policyholders preventative services, incident response, and enhance customer interaction.
  • Oversee the management of external privacy or defense counsel and other service providers during incidents, focusing on reducing losses.
  • Supervise litigation and manage related expenses.
  • Ensure clear communication with various stakeholders, including insureds, brokers, vendors, underwriters, and other internal departments.
  • Keep claim files meticulously documented and accurate.
  • Cooperate with the underwriting team and utilize data/analytics to refine our risk selection approach, aiming to attract and retain quality business.

Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience as a cyber insurance or data privacy lawyer with a demonstrated ability to handle increasingly complex cases.
  • Experience developing an Incident Response plan.
  • Experience with Technology Errors & Omissions.
  • Cyber technical acumen, a plus.
  • Digital forensic experience, a plus.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Process oriented.
  • Established connections within the incident response, cybersecurity, and legal fields.
  • Familiarity with the U.S. cyber insurance market, with Canadian market experience being a plus.
  • Experience with Contract Law, a plus.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
