The Birch Bay Law Group PLLC, led by Managing Attorney Karim Hamir, is currently hiring Washington State-licensed family law attorneys for remote, per diem roles. These positions support the expanding family law caseload at both The Cowlitz Law Group and Birch Bay Law Group. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced attorneys who want to focus solely on the practice of law, while the firm's administrative team manages all backend operations, including trust accounting.These roles offer a flexible remote schedule with between 10 to 30 hours of work per week. They are ideally suited for solo practitioners, attorneys at boutique firms looking to scale their work capacity, or seasoned family law professionals who prioritize flexibility and wish to avoid the burdens of firm management. Attorneys who prefer to dedicate their time to client advocacy rather than administrative obligations will find this opportunity particularly appealing.
Our firm provides comprehensive support, handling all aspects of client intake, scheduling, billing, trust accounting, file management, and marketing. In addition, attorneys benefit from full paralegal support, legal document drafting resources, and collaboration opportunities with senior attorneys for guidance on complex cases.
Key responsibilities include representing clients in a range of family law matters such as divorce, parenting plan development, child support, spousal maintenance, and division of property. Attorneys will also be responsible for drafting pleadings and settlement agreements, attending hearings and mediations, offering strategic legal counsel, and maintaining strong and professional communication with both clients and the internal team.
Qualified applicants must hold an active license with the Washington State Bar and have at least three years of relevant family law experience. Candidates should be confident in the courtroom, possess excellent legal writing skills in compliance with GR 31 formatting, and demonstrate the ability to work effectively and independently in a remote setting. A strong commitment to client service, confidentiality (as outlined under RPC 1.6), and resolution-driven representation is essential.
This role offers competitive compensation with all billing supported through the firm's centralized systems. The position is fully remote with flexible hours, no overhead costs, and includes firm-provided malpractice insurance as well as access to CLE resources to ensure compliance with WSBA MCLE requirements.
These opportunities are available on a part-time, contract, temporary, or internship basis. Scheduling is highly flexible and may include self-managed hours, weekday availability, and optional weekend or on-call work. All work is performed remotely.
