Job Summary:
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office (CAO) is accepting applications for the position of Unit Supervisor - Financial and Civil Matters. We are a fast-paced office devoted to a culture of excellence and are looking for someone with over three years of management experience and familiar with a wide variety of matters involving governmental civil litigation.

Duties:
This position includes supervising a staff overseeing a variety of matters as listed below and reports to the First Assistant to the Circuit Attorney. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Handling civil claims against the CAO in coordination with the City Counselor's office and/or outside counsel.
  • Supervising a staff consisting of attorneys, paralegals, investigators, and clerical staff.
  • Must be knowledgeable about and supervise attorneys that:
  • Prosecute fraud cases.
  • Provide legal advice and support for the detainer and extradition process.
  • Represent the Missouri Department of Mental Health in civil commitment hearings.
  • Handle criminal sales tax cases for the Missouri Department of Revenue.
  • Appear for expungement dockets.
  • Fulfill Sunshine Law requests.
  • Pursue asset forfeiture matters.
  • Evaluate petitions for removal from the sex offender registry.
  • Manage fugitive dockets.
  • Appear for license revocation docket.
  • Must be knowledgeable about and supervise support staff that:
  • Collect restitution payments.
  • Collect bad check payments.
  • Collect delinquent income taxes.
  • Provide administrative support for attorneys.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Skills:
  • Must have a minimum of a juris doctorate degree, with or ability to obtain a Missouri license.
  • At least three years of experience managing others.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate internally and with external organizations.
  • Experience handling or supervising civil matters preferred.
  • Prosecutorial experience preferred.
