Responsibilities - What you'll do
What you will do:
  • Conduct quasi-judicial hearings with interested parties and their counsel: place witnesses under oath, question witnesses to ascertain pertinent facts, see that hearings are properly recorded, admit or exclude evidence, and facilitate the cross-examination of witnesses.
  • Prior to hearing, review the Division exhibits and documentation submitted by the parties and make necessary preparations to address the issues pertinent to the hearing.
  • Prepare written decisions, or orders, applying pertinent provisions of the law and following established precedents.
  • Study precedent decisions in similar cases as a guide for making decisions.

Qualifications - All you need for success

Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate degree or a Bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional experience in the programs subject to the administrative hearings review (substitutions may be allowed).

Desired Attributes:
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri.
  • Prior participation in administrative hearings.
  • Possess a familiarity with an unemployment insurance system.
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures.
