About the Director of Development RoleThe Family Law Attorney is a key member of the SRFJC team who provides critical direct legal service to clients. Given the SRFJC's mission, the attorney we are seeking has a strong, demonstrated commitment to public interest and is motivated to serve victims of interpersonal violence. The attorney is a skilled and thoughtful communicator with the ability to remain calm and focused when faced with unexpected challenges.
- Provide assistance with Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse Restraining Order petitions
- Represent clients in domestic violence and elder abuse restraining order hearings
- Represent clients in family law proceedings
- Work collaboratively with case managers to ensure clients are fully supported
- Provide support as needed to members of the legal team
- Maintain strong records and necessary service logs to assist with grant reporting
- Minimum Education Level: Must have a JD and active membership with the California State Bar
- Experience Required: Two or more years of experience in family law or related legal field
- Passionate about improving the lives of those impacted by interpersonal violence
- The desire to work collaboratively with a diverse team in support of the client
- Ability to build and sustain strong, positive, productive relationships with others
- Strong organizational skills, extremely careful attention to detail and follow-through
- Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, including active listening and the ability to give and receive feedback
- Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred
