Description:Staff Attorney – Immigration Services
Pars Equality Center
Location: Los Angeles, CA
FTE: 1.0 (Exempt)
Salary Range: $75,000 – $92,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
Position Summary:
As a member of the Pars Equality Center (Pars) Legal Team, the Staff Attorney will provide legal consultation and client representation, conduct community education, and engage in advocacy on community issues. The attorney will work closely with the Legal Director and other legal and social services staff to deliver high-quality, culturally competent legal services to immigrants and refugees in Los Angeles County.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide legal consultation, case preparation, and full representation to low-income clients filing affirmative immigration applications, including family-based and humanitarian petitions, waivers, U Visas, VAWA, Asylum, Naturalization, Consular Processing, and Adjustments of Status.
- Plan and conduct workshops, clinics, outreach activities, and information sessions for immigrants and community partners. Some events may occur in the evenings or on weekends.
- Track and maintain compliance with all grant deliverables. Prepare required narrative and statistical reports for funders, ensuring accuracy and timely data entry.
- Comply with Pars's policies, procedures, and legal practice standards, including confidentiality, fee collection, maintenance of client files, and compliance with nonprofit immigration law protocols.
- Assess client eligibility for services and fees, execute service contracts, and coordinate with administrative staff to ensure timely filing and payment.
- Participate in community meetings and coalitions, represent Pars at local events, and collaborate with other organizations and government partners to enhance immigrant services.
- Perform all other related tasks as assigned by the Legal Director or COO.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active Bar membership in good standing (California preferred).
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in immigration law.
- Demonstrated commitment to serving low-income immigrant populations.
- Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
- Strong public speaking ability in English; bilingual fluency (Spanish or Farsi) highly desirable.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and immigration case management software (preferably Cerenade).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural team.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $75,000 – $92,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
