Landry, Mazzeo, Dembinski & Stevens, P.C., an established civil litigation firm in Farmington Hills, is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Attorney to join our insurance-defense and general civil-litigation practice. This is an opportunity for meaningful case responsibility, direct client contact, and a clear path for professional growth.Our matters include premises liability; first- and third-party automobile claims; fire-loss investigation and subrogation; municipal defense and civil-rights claims; employment litigation; construction disputes; commercial and contract disputes; zoning and land use; and real-property litigation.
The successful candidate will independently manage an active caseload from initial evaluation through resolution or trial, with support from experienced partners and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage civil litigation matters in Michigan state and federal courts from initial assessment through resolution and trial preparation.
- Investigate claims and defenses, evaluate exposure, develop strategy, and provide clients and carriers with practical recommendations and timely status reporting.
- Draft persuasive pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, settlement documents, and client communications.
- Conduct legal research and factual investigation and turn the results into clear, actionable advice.
- Take and defend depositions and prepare clients, fact witnesses, and experts.
- Appear at hearings, case conferences, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Negotiate settlements and advise clients regarding litigation, coverage, and business considerations.
- Manage deadlines, budgets, billing guidelines, files, and communications across an active caseload.
- Collaborate with attorneys and legal staff and contribute to a collegial, accountable team.
- Assist with mentoring junior attorneys and staff as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
- Active Michigan law license in good standing.
- At least four years of civil-litigation experience.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff.
