The Job:We are seeking a senior candidate with a minimum of 7 years of nonprofit law experience.
Qualified candidates should have experience with the range of legal issues that nonprofit organizations and the funders and individuals who support them may confront.

Qualified candidates will be motivated self-starters with strong academic credentials, excellent writing and communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to handle complicated matters with minimal supervision. Candidates should also be able to work both independently and as part of a group, have strong attention to detail, be comfortable managing multiple and varied client requests, and be able to quickly digest and provide advice regarding new state and federal laws. Candidates must be a member of or be eligible for admission to the DC Bar.
- Nonprofit formation
- Seeking and maintaining federal, state, and local tax exemption
- Nonprofit corporate and association governance
- Relationships among affiliated tax-exempt organizations such as 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and PACs
- Lobbying and issue advocacy at the federal, state, and local levels
- Political activities and campaign finance compliance
- Relationships with and grants to overseas organizations
- Special rules governing private foundations
- Contract review, drafting, and conflict management
- Representation before state and federal regulatory agencies governing nonprofits
Experience in any of these areas is not required but is a plus:
- Insurance issues
- Campaign finance law
- Fundraising contracts and compliance with state and federal laws
- Trademark and copyright questions
- Lease review and drafting
- Legal issues related to data privacy
