Description:

Duffley Law is a growing Texas law firm focused on estate planning and probate. We believe that:
  • Everyone is a potential client.
  • Work product is king.
  • It's better to be slow and accurate than fast and wrong.
  • We're the last line of defense.

Our mission is to deliver thoughtful, precise legal services that give our clients peace of mind. We take pride in providing a five-star client experience at every stage of representation.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an estate planning associate attorney to join our Houston office. You will manage your own docket of estate planning matters (both trust-based and will-based plans).

This role carries a monthly production target based on the firm's flat fees tied to completed matters, with bonus compensation for production above the target. Newly licensed attorneys are welcome, though prior estate planning experience is a very big plus.

The ideal candidate is obsessed with details and believes work product is king.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage your own caseload of estate planning matters, including trust-based and will-based plans.
  • Meet directly with clients, confidently and independently, to recommend the right documents, language, and tools for their situations.
  • Draft and finalize estate planning documents accurately and efficiently, using firm templates and approved AI tools.
  • Meet a monthly production target based on completed flat-fee matters, with bonus pay for exceeding it.
  • Work closely with the Houston case manager to keep matters moving from intake through signing.
  • Collaborate with other firm attorneys to review work product and improve document drafts.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services beyond the immediate engagement and loop in the right attorney for probate or other services.
  • Keep client files complete and current in Clio.
  • Contribute to firm templates, checklists, automations, and workflows as the practice grows.
  • Encourage clients to provide feedback and leave five-star reviews.

Qualifications:
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas, or eligible to be licensed within the next 60 days.
  • Relentless attention to detail.
  • Strong, confident client communication skills.
  • Strong drafting skills and comfortable producing clean, accurate documents.
  • Comfortable using secure AI tools for document review and revision.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage a full caseload without letting matters go stale or unaddressed.
  • Comfortable working toward a defined monthly production target.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with legal case management systems (Clio preferred).
  • Professional demeanor and strong commitment to confidentiality.
  • Prior experience in estate planning is preferred, but not required.

Must be located in the Houston area and available for regular in-office attendance.
