Description:
We are looking for an Associate Attorney to join our team and provide support to our attorneys. It is a small practice with one attorney, an of-counsel, and an associate.The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing pre-hearing filings, letters, memoranda, drafting Immigration Motions such as Motions to Reopen and Appeals with the BIA, attending interviews with USCIS and attending hearings related to Removal Proceedings.
The ideal candidate will have some familiarity with Immigration Law, excellent organizational skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. We are also seeking someone with at least one year of experience with Immigration law, with a preference for experience with removal proceedings.
At the moment, we are only considering candidates with Spanish language skills. If Spanish is not a listed skill on your resume, it will be disregarded.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare legal documents including letters and Immigration relief forms;
- E-file using the Immigration Court, USCIS, and Superior Court online filing portals;
- Drafting letters and memoranda of law
- Drafting Motions such as Motions to Reopen and Appeals with the BIA
- Attending interviews with USCIS and hearings related to removal proceedings
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent writing, organizational, and secretarial skills;
- At least 1 year of experience in Immigration Law, or equivalent substantive knowledge in Immigration Law;
- Speaks Spanish
- Licensed in New Jersey with a preference for those licensed in New York
