About the role:
The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of legal experience, including significant time spent in employment litigation, and a growing passion for advising employers on a wide range of workplace issues. While litigation experience is essential, the majority of the role involves preventative counseling, compliance guidance, and strategic support. Core Responsibilities:
  • Handle sophisticated employment defense litigation matters, including wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other complex disputes.
  • Provide strategic advice and counseling to employers on compliance, risk mitigation, and litigation prevention.
  • Advise clients on employee relations, workplace investigations, wage and hour compliance, leave laws, accommodations, hiring and separation practices, handbooks, and employment policies.
  • Develop practical, tailored solutions that balance legal risk with business needs.
  • Provide day-to-day counseling to employers in industries such as hospitality, technology, manufacturing, and professional services.
  • Occasionally support or oversee litigation matters, including risk assessments and case strategy.
  • Contribute to client training, policy development, and internal firm initiatives.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership on business development strategy while receiving mentorship to grow and manage your own book of business.
  • Engage in business development activities to help grow your practice and the firm's impact.
  • Gain hands-on experience in law firm management, client development, and leadership, preparing you to run and expand the practice.
  • Work directly with clients you enjoy, in a culture that values collaboration, flexibility, and entrepreneurial thinking.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the California Bar.
  • At least 5-7 years of legal experience, with experience in employment litigation and sophisticated advice and counseling work.
  • Strong interest in building long-term, advisory relationships with clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable navigating complex legal and business environments.
  • Tech-savvy and experienced with law firm billing and case management systems.
  • Confidence in their ability to offer advice and help clients through difficult situations with sensitivity and positivity.

  • Deep understanding of California and federal employment laws.
