Join TCEQ! We are looking for an Employment and Ethics Attorney I to join the General Law Division.

Your Future Team
As part of TCEQ's Office of Legal Services, you would provide legal advice related to employment law and ethics in the Contracts, Employment Law, & Ethics Section of the General Law Division for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Here's What You'll Be Doing:
  • Provide legal advice, opinions, representation, and training to Human Resources and Agency management on employment law matters.
  • Investigate internal complaints related to personnel issues, including employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and other matters as requested by agency management.
  • Represent the Executive Director in employment disputes and tort claims, including charges of discrimination and litigation.
  • Develop policies, rules, standard procedures and training modules, and assist with other projects. Review and implement legislative or regulatory changes related to employment matters and ethics.
  • Advise the agency on ethics laws and policies.

Qualifications:
Key Qualifications:
Course work in ethics, employment, and/or labor law preferred (official law school transcript required).

Required Education & Experience:
Admission to the State Bar of Texas

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Attorney I to IIIB state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Attorney I, II, III, IIIB series.

Work Schedule:
  • Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Individual and work group schedule determined by the Staff Services Division.
