A Prior-Art Search Firm, a high-end intellectual property research firm in Old Town Alexandria, VA, is currently seeking an Electrical/Computer Engineer, Patent Agent, Patent Searcher. Prior USPTO experience is a MUST.

The electrical/computer engineer, patent agent, patent searcher supports IP staff by conducting patentability, invalidity, prior art, freedom-to-operate, clearance and landscape searches in highly complex technologies including, but not limited to:

Computer Hardware/Software
Telecommunications/Wireless Communications
Semiconductor/Solid-State Devices
Business Methods/E-Commerce
Lasers and Optics
Printing and Imaging
Analog/Digital Circuits
Networking
Medical Devices and Instrumentation
Multimedia
Storage Systems
Display Technologies
Automotive
General Mechanical Arts

Duties/Responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth patent/technical research and analysis and prepare written reports based on search results

The ideal candidate will have:

Extreme attention to detail
Sound understanding of US and international patents and patent process
Excellent written/oral communication, interpersonal and analytical/critical thinking skills
Ability to work well independently and collaboratively under a strict deadline
Detailed knowledge of technical databases, particularly those related to engineering, computing and communication technologies
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering
Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus
Prior USPTO experience is a MUST
