Sidley Austin LLP is seeking an associate to join its Derivatives practice in the New York office. Candidates should have approximately 3+ years of relevant experience at a law firm, financial institution, asset manager or other sophisticated market participant. The position will focus on transactional and regulatory matters involving derivatives and related trading relationships, including both day-to-day trading documentation and more complex derivatives transactions arising in connection with financings, acquisitions, capital markets transactions, credit risk transfer transactions and other strategic or structured transactions.

Relevant experience should include:
  • Negotiating ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Annexes and other derivatives documentation;
  • Prime brokerage, repurchase, securities lending, futures, clearing, custody or related trading arrangements;
  • Structuring and documenting equity, credit, interest rate, foreign exchange, commodity or other derivatives transactions, including bespoke hedging and risk transfer transactions; and
  • Advising on derivatives regulatory matters, including Dodd-Frank, CFTC requirements and margin rules.

Experience representing investment managers, private funds, corporate end users or other buy-side market participants is preferred, although candidates with significant dealer-side or in-house derivatives experience are also encouraged to apply. Candidates should have strong academic credentials, excellent drafting and analytical skills, sound judgment and an interest in developing a broad derivatives and financial markets practice. New York Bar admission or eligibility for admission is preferred.
