Primary Duties: This Deputy Attorney General position is a new position created by the Idaho legislature to serve as an expert on human trafficking in the Office of the Attorney General. The successful candidate will be assigned to the Special Prosecutions Unit and focus primarily on the Attorney General's new statutory duties related to combatting human trafficking, including (1) writing biannual reports on human trafficking in Idaho that include specific recommendations for statutory changes in Idaho, (2) compiling training and educational materials on human trafficking, and (3) assisting local law enforcement and county prosecutors as they investigate and prosecute human trafficking.

The purpose of this new position is to provide an additional resource to those who are already combatting human trafficking in Idaho. This means working cooperatively with state legislators, the Idaho State Police, local law enforcement, county prosecutors, victim advocacy groups, and others to support the overall mission of combatting human trafficking. Frequent travel may be required, including both to attend and present trainings on human trafficking.

As part of the Special Prosecutions Unit, this position may also be required to handle other types of criminal prosecutions as needed.

Minimum Qualifications Duties: Enthusiasm for public service is a must. Must be licensed to practice law in Idaho. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with external agencies. Must be comfortable presenting to both large and small groups, including to law enforcement, prosecutors, and the public. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel is required.

Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in the fight against human trafficking and experience serving on a task force or similar team dedicated to achieving a common goal. Prior experience prosecuting human trafficking cases is preferred but not required.
