Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.
Summary Statement
The Criminal Division seeks a Deputy Attorney General to represent the State of Delaware in the Human Trafficking Unit (HTU). This position will be responsible for prosecuting human trafficking cases across the State of Delaware; travel across the State will be necessary to perform assigned duties. In addition, this position may also require interstate travel to participate in litigation or investigations; or to represent the Delaware Department of Justice in conferences, seminars, or trainings.

Essential Functions:
This position will be responsible for public outreach, attendance at meetings of the Juvenile Trafficking Oversight Team, and other public events as required by the needs of the Criminal Division. This position will work closely with law enforcement, advocacy groups, witnesses, civil agencies, and other information sources to investigate human trafficking cases, evaluate cases for appropriate remedial actions, and use any and all available means to obtain civil relief for victims while enjoining ongoing human trafficking activity and prosecute criminally where appropriate. This position will be responsible for criminal nuisance abatement activities against businesses and other properties where suspected human trafficking takes place. In addition, this position will also be responsible for litigation in all Delaware Courts including Bankruptcy Court, the District Court of Delaware, and multi-state litigation where necessary or appropriate to prevent human trafficking in Delaware or obtain penalties against human traffickers in Delaware.
A qualified candidate's strengths will include the ability to work independently, evaluate cases, meet deadlines, anticipate legal issues, and research accurately and effectively. Candidates must have the ability to learn and apply relevant laws, rules of evidence, and court rules. Candidates must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Related experience in Criminal Court is preferred.

- Experience practicing as a barred attorney or recent law school graduate.
