A National, Full-Service Law Firm is searching for a Data Security and Privacy Law Associate to join our growing practice. The Associate will join our data privacy and cybersecurity team, providing guidance and counseling to a wide range of multinational corporations and emerging growth clients on cutting-edge matters involving the collection, storage, distribution, and use of data, as well as advising clients on legal considerations related to artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Privacy Compliance
- Draft and review comprehensive privacy notices, terms of service, and data processing agreements (DPAs)
- Conduct privacy compliance assessments, privacy impact assessments (PIAs), and DPIAs
- Advise on state, federal, and international data protection and privacy law requirements
- Support data governance initiatives, data mapping, and records of processing activities
- Handle cross-border privacy compliance and international data transfers
- Assist clients in data security incident response and resulting legal requirements
- Technology Agreements
- Review and negotiate technology agreements, including software as a service (SaaS), cloud services, and vendor contracts
- Manage high-volume agreement review workflows for technology-driven clients
- Conduct vendor management and third-party risk assessments
- AI and Emerging Technology
- Advise on AI-driven data processing and algorithmic decision-making compliance
- Develop AI governance frameworks, AI risk assessments, and AI ethics compliance policies
- Conduct algorithmic auditing and bias assessment guidance
- Monitor and analyze evolving regulations governing AI technology and emerging privacy laws
- Counsel clients on responsible AI deployment and risk mitigation
- Client Counseling
- Provide practical guidance to cross-functional teams including IT, compliance, security, and business stakeholders
- Conduct client training on privacy and data security best practices
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex, high-profile technology transactions
Candidate Qualifications:
- 1-4 years of privacy, data protection, and/or data security experience
- CIPP certification strongly preferred
- Professional experience advising regarding data protection, privacy, and AI matters
- Professional experience drafting privacy compliance policies and procedures
- Contract review and negotiation experience, particularly with technology agreements
- Commitment to developing a transactional law practice in a large law firm environment
- Strong familiarity with emerging technologies, including AI (artificial intelligence)
- Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects
- Strong academic credentials
- Admission to the IN bar or eligibility to waive in
