The Position:
Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is seeking a Mid to Senior-Level Associate with at least five years' experience specifically handling privacy and cybersecurity issues to help grow its Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group. The attorney can be located in Denver or Milwaukee.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:

• Investigating and counseling on responses to data breaches;
• Data breach response investigation;
• In-depth knowledge of key regulatory and security framework (including CCPA, PCI-DSS, GLBA, HIPAA, and GDPR);
• Managing privacy program development and implementation;
• Negotiation complex information technology, licensing and outsourcing contacts, including privacy and data security teams and key risk allocation issues such as indemnification and limitation on liability;
• Advising clients in all industries on a wide variety of privacy and data security matters;
• Negotiating and drafting technology-focused commercial transactions (software license agreements, hosted services agreements, terms of service);
• Advising on data governance strategies (retention, use policies, inventories, mapping);
• Addressing privacy and cybersecurity issues in M&A transactions;
• Drafting company privacy and security policies;
• Advising on privacy and cybersecurity issues specific to fintech and blockchain solutions

Job Requirements:

• Knowledge Base & Education:
• J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
• Excellent academic credentials
• At least 5 years' experience handling privacy and cybersecurity issues
• Privacy professional certification preferred but not required
• Passion for data and staying up to date and the latest privacy and cybersecurity issues and trends
