Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Criminal Defense Attorney to join our growing legal team. The ideal candidate is an experienced advocate who can manage cases from intake through resolution while providing strong, ethical, and client-focused representation. This role requires excellent courtroom skills, sound legal judgment, and the ability to build trust with clients facing serious legal challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent clients charged with criminal offenses in court proceedings
  • Develop effective defense strategies through case analysis, investigation, and witness interviews
  • Draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, pleadings, and appeals
  • Appear at hearings, trials, and other court proceedings
  • Negotiate plea agreements and case resolutions with prosecuting attorneys
  • Conduct legal research related to statutes, criminal codes, and case law
  • Provide clear legal advice and guidance on a wide range of criminal matters
  • Maintain consistent and professional communication with clients regarding case status and expectations
  • Stay current on changes in criminal law, court rules, and legal procedures
  • Work collaboratively with legal staff to ensure thorough case preparation

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active license with the Texas State Bar (required)
  • Prior experience practicing criminal law preferred
  • Strong knowledge of criminal procedure and courtroom practice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage cases from inception through resolution
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
  • Proficiency in legal research and case strategy development
  • Professional, confident demeanor with clients and in court

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Trial experience
  • Experience handling misdemeanor and felony cases
  • Familiarity with criminal law administrative processes and court systems
