Job Summary
J.P. Ward & Associates, LLC is seeking a Pennsylvania licensed attorney located in the Greater Pittsburgh area to serve as appearance counsel for hearings in Magisterial District Courts throughout Allegheny County and surrounding counties such as Butler, Washington, Westmoreland, and Beaver.

This position is ideal for solo practitioners, small firm attorneys, or attorneys seeking flexible supplemental work. Hearings are typically quite short and involve creditor collection matters where our firm provides full case preparation and support.

Our team handles client communication, pleadings, and case management. The appearance attorney's role is primarily to attend the hearing, advocate for the client, and report the outcome back to our office.

We maintain a high success rate in these matters and have a consistent volume of hearings across the Pittsburgh region. Most hearings last 10 to 20 minutes and are scheduled during normal weekday court hours.

Responsibilities
Attend scheduled hearings in Magisterial District Courts throughout Allegheny County and nearby counties

Occasionally appear in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas
Review case summaries and exhibits prior to hearings
Provide a brief summary of the hearing outcome afterward
Communicate with our office if any issues arise during proceedings

Qualifications
Active Pennsylvania law license in good standing

Prior courtroom or litigation experience preferred
Located in or near the Pittsburgh region
Comfortable appearing in Magisterial District Courts
Reliable and professional courtroom presence
Ability to accept hearings on a flexible basis

Compensation
Flat appearance fees paid per hearing based on a mileage tier structure.

Virtual hearings: $75 per appearance (these typically don't last more than 20 minutes)
In person hearings: starting at $100 and increasing based on round trip travel distance (most hearings still last less than 20 minutes once you arrive)
