Position Summary:This position will be based on-site at our Houston, Texas corporate headquarters providing legal services primarily to A Privately Held Real Estate Firm's services company, A Privately Held Real Estate Firm Real Estate Services. A Privately Held Real Estate Firm's Legal Team is seeking a junior-level attorney to join our dynamic and growing department. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this position will play a key role in (i) managing litigation and/or (ii) drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain broad in-house experience including litigation and commercial transaction matters, supporting A Privately Held Real Estate Firm's transformation and growth initiatives nationwide. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional multi-tasking skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. The attorney will be expected to independently produce high-quality legal work across a diverse range of legal disciplines, demonstrating versatility and strong analytical skills.
Position Responsibilities:
Litigation Role:
- Provide accurate and timely legal advice and counsel to business management and risk team regarding a nationwide litigation docket, including strategic advice on mitigating legal risk and dispute resolution.
- Manage external counsel in developing and implementing effective litigation and dispute management strategies through the entire litigation/dispute life cycle.
- Proactively manage legal costs through careful internal and external resource deployment, budgeting, active project management, and other techniques for assuring cost discipline.
- Participate in the drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts, with an emphasis on learning key contractual terms and risk allocation.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on litigation, corporate, real estate, and commercial law issues as needed.
- Develop a strong understanding of A Privately Held Real Estate Firm's business operations, services, and risk profile to provide practical, business-focused legal guidance.
- Assist in creating contract templates, playbooks, and guidance materials to improve efficiency and consistency across the company.
- Perform other functions as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Juris doctorate from a US accredited law school and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas or other U.S. state bar.
- 2-5 years of either transactional or litigation experience within a law firm or in-house legal department with the ability and willingness to learn other legal disciplines to meet A Privately Held Real Estate Firm's legal needs.
- Ability to thrive in a challenging setting involving a high volume of diverse matters while delivering results under tight deadlines.
- Ability to keep information strictly confidential.
