The Intellectual Property Counsel for A Manufacturing Company Diagnostics is responsible for supporting the Clinical Chemistry and Immunoassay business.

This position is part of the Legal Team providing support to A Manufacturing Company Diagnostics R&D organizations located worldwide and will be fully remote.

The Intellectual Property Counsel will report to the Senior Counsel, Intellectual Property, and will be responsible for working with our business partners to ensure the organization is protecting its innovations, aligning IP and business strategy, negotiating contracts, and mitigating risks with respect to third-party Intellectual Property.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Advise, counsel, and participate in development of strategic, global IP portfolio (including patents, copyrights, and trade secrets) with an emphasis on procuring protection of menu relating to A Manufacturing Company & Immunoassay analyzers
  • Negotiate, draft, and review agreements such as licenses, research agreements, collaboration agreements, confidentiality agreements and material transfer agreements
  • Drive invention disclosure processes with R&D and participate in IP review meetings
  • Draft claims and direct outside counsel in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications
  • Collaborate with A Manufacturing Company's global intellectual property team

The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university in a scientific or technical discipline
  • JD degree from an accredited law school and 4+ years of firm or in-house (highly preferred) legal experience in Intellectual Property
  • Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and an active member of at least one state bar.
  • Experience with contract drafting and negotiation, with an emphasis on intellectual property rights.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • In-house legal experience with R&D focus
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university in Biology, Chemistry or Biochemistry
