Job Description:We are looking for a hardworking, motivated, and skilled individual to join our legal team as a lawyer. This unique and complex role involves both production and acquisition work, so we are looking for someone who can manage a wide variety of tasks with different complexities and different priorities with minimal supervision.
Here you can:
- Negotiate and draft acquisition, development, and production agreements
- Analyze and interpret a variety of contracts to provide legal advice on potential risks and issues
- Handle all legal matters during production, including but not limited to evaluating rights and chain of title issues, clearance matters, guild issues, advertising, promotion, and publicity issues
- Collaborate with key company departments across Focus and Universal, including Creative, Business, Production, Finance, Labor and Employment, Marketing, Promotions, Insurance and Tax
- Support special projects as needed
Qualifications:
What you will bring:
- JD degree from an accredited law school
- 4+ years of production and/or transactional entertainment legal experience at a motion picture, television company, or major law firm
- Member of the California State Bar or Registered with the California Bar as in-house counsel
- Familiarity with copyright law (both US and foreign) and intellectual property issues
- Outstanding negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills

- Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary range: $150,000 -185,000K (bonus and long-term incentive eligible)
