Purpose:
Responsible for legal representation and advice to HMA departments and executives in the primary areas of corporate and business law and contractual matters.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Use advanced knowledge to provide legal guidance and support to various departments within the company, including customer experience, after-sales, marketing, communications, product planning, facilities, finance, digital business planning and connected operations, sales, and human resources.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including master services agreements, statements of work, license agreements, IT agreements, leases, non-disclosure agreements, consulting agreements, and similar agreements in line with the company's policies and risk tolerance with minimal oversight.
  • Assist affiliate companies with legal matters as needed.
  • Collaborate with transactional team members to improve contract templates and procedures to help streamline, simplify, and automate contracting processes.
  • Assist with the creation of contract review playbooks and training materials.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by the Director, Corporate Transactions.
  • Exercise independent judgment to perform other duties as assigned.

Authority:
Authority to negotiate all contractual language for the company.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Juris Doctorate degree from ABA approved law school required.

Related Experience:
  • Three to four years of law firm and/or in-house experience is valued, we welcome candidates with a range of experience levels.
  • Strong contract and corporate experience.
  • Proficiency in developing, negotiating, implementing, and managing complex service provider and other corporate relationships.
  • Prior experience providing legal support in the automotive industry and to OEM clients is a plus.

Skills/Knowledge:
  • High level of writing and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, via telephone, via email, via video conference, and various instant messaging platforms (e.g., Microsoft TEAMS).
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals of varied backgrounds and skill levels.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage a high volume of tasks.
  • Effective time management and work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and willingness to undertake substantial and diverse job responsibilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Certification:
Admission to, and in good standing with, the California Bar.
