Position Summary:
Corporate Counsel, Regulatory serves as a trusted legal advisor to business teams on all legal matters relating to Pharmavite's and its subsidiaries' products, including advertising, labeling, product liability and consumer class action matters. The role partners closely with cross-functional teams on product development, claims and scientific substantiation, and a wide range of marketing and promotional activities as well as assisting in defending threatened and filed consumer class actions. This position reports to the Senior Corporate Counsel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Product & Marketing Legal Counseling: Advise cross-functional business teams on regulatory, advertising, labeling, and product safety matters, including digital and social media, influencer marketing, promotions, and other consumer-facing initiatives. Advise on product development, claims, and substantiation, working closely with scientific teams to evaluate and develop clinical studies and other evidence supporting product and marketing claims. Independently manage regulatory and advertising matters from identification through resolution, exercising sound legal judgment and providing practical, business-oriented counsel.
  • Regulatory Strategy & Implementation: Responsible for legal assessments of emerging regulatory requirements affecting food, dietary supplements, medical devices, and OTC products, and partner with the business to develop and implement practical compliance strategies. Educate cross-functional teams and senior leadership on regulatory and industry developments and their practical business implications. Participate in trade association activities, industry conferences, and other professional programs to deepen subject-matter expertise and stay current on regulatory and industry developments, and support comments on proposed regulations, guidance, and other government initiatives.
  • Disputes & Enforcement Matters: Execute legal strategy developed for competitor advertising challenges, including National Advertising Division proceedings. Advise on and support regulatory inquiries, investigations, disputes, and litigation matters as they arise, including coordinating with internal stakeholders in fact finding and discovery and managing outside counsel in partnership with the Senior Corporate Counsel.
  • Legal Programs & Process Improvement: Support Legal Department initiatives, including developing internal guidance and interpretive frameworks, policies, procedures, training, and process improvements, and providing guidance to law clerks and interns as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Advanced Degree or equivalent work experience Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • 1-3 years of experience in regulatory, advertising, consumer protection, and/or compliance matters, with FDA/FTC experience preferred, particularly in dietary supplements, food, beverage, cosmetics, or other regulated consumer products.
  • Bar Admission Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.

  • Ability to interpret complex federal and state laws, regulations, guidance, and other legal requirements and translate them into practical business advice.
  • Ability to assess legal and regulatory risk and develop practical, solutions-oriented recommendations.
  • Sound legal judgment and the ability to independently manage matters with professionalism and discretion.
  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative, business-facing environment, including frequent meetings and real-time problem solving with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to quickly shift between matters, prioritize competing demands, and deliver timely advice in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide actionable, business-oriented legal advice, including recommending a preferred course of action in light of legal risk, business objectives, and practical realities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including confidence presenting and discussing legal issues with diverse business audiences.
  • A responsive, solutions-oriented approach and willingness to take initiative and drive matters forward.

Physical or Work Requirements
Primarily performs work in an office or remote environment and require extended periods of sitting, computer use, and verbal communication. Physical activity is generally limited to occasional standing, walking, repetitive keyboard and mouse use, and light lifting of office materials or equipment up to 10–15 pounds. Employees may occasionally travel or attend meetings in varying office or customer environments.

Travel:
5%. This is a hybrid position, located in West Hills, California. For the right candidate, willing to consider remote with expected travel to West Hills, several times per year.
