We're seeking a high caliber attorney who is enthusiastic about technology to join our product counsel legal team. As Corporate Counsel at Jack Henry, you'll be part of a growing and diverse team of smart and energetic attorneys, paralegals and support staff. You'll collaborate with colleagues from all over the company and partner in initiatives that influence all aspects of the business. As an integrated part of the team, you will provide practical legal solutions that help to move the business forward. Your main focus will be partnering with product groups and offering legal guidance as they create cutting edge-tools that drive meaningful solutions for our customers. The ideal candidate will have experience in fintech, technology, financial services and/or payments.

This position can be based to work remotely from the Central Time Zone within the US, or on a hybrid basis out of our offices in Lenexa, KS; Allen, TX; Springfield/Monett, MO; or Cedar Falls, IA. Compensation for this position will be a base salary of $107-155k depending on candidate experience and geographic location, as well as additional bonuses and benefits.

What you'll be responsible for
  • Provide full product life-cycle counseling, from ideation and development to launch, operation, and sunset.
  • Integrate into the operations of Jack Henry product teams, providing legal, business, and strategic advice. Look around corners and creatively solve problems for the business as they plan, build, and execute on their product roadmap.
  • Advise on a wide range of issues related to technology, data privacy, consumer protection, contracts, and other legal and regulatory matters.
  • Identify issues that may fall outside your expertise, driving resolution by partnering with other members of the Jack Henry legal team.
  • Have a practical, solution-oriented approach to lawyering. You understand what matters and what doesn't and will move business forward while balancing risk.
  • Communicate legal concepts to non-legal colleagues in a usable and understandable manner. You understand the role of a lawyer as a communicator.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of transactional documents, including contracts, product terms, and EULAs.
  • Support the improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes, approaches, and playbooks.
  • Be a reliable teammate willing to help others and adapt well when there is ambiguity.
  • May perform other job duties as assigned.

What you'll need to have

  • Juris Doctorate degree required and admitted to, and in good standing with, a state bar.
  • A minimum of 5 years of legal practice.
  • Experience with technology product development OR working for a financial institution and/or fintech.
  • Must be able to travel up to 10% to other Jack Henry office locations for meetings, training or to attend a professional conference.
