What You Will Do:
The Lowe's Legal Department serves as an innovative, proactive, and strategic business partner focused on accelerating profitable growth while protecting the Lowe's brand. The Corporate Counsel provides proactive legal consultation and advice on day-to-day matters and key functional priorities of their business client. This role should have deep understanding of compliance and ethics or have mid-level understanding of three or more areas of law or lines of business and a desire to learn about compliance and ethics. The Corporate Counsel handles matters independently and proactively consults with leadership on complex work.

Your Impact:
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on issues relating to business integrity, including Ethics, Compliance, Fair Competition, Anticorruption, Responsible Sourcing, Third-Party Risk Management, and other areas as needed.
  • Counsels internal stakeholders on ethics issues and helps employees of all levels to resolve concerns relating to the company's Code of Business Conduct & Ethics.
  • Conducts investigations into allegations of fraud, bribery, corruption, conflicts of interest and other areas of misconduct.
  • Leads training sessions and contributes to an enterprise-wide communications plan on relevant compliance topics.
  • Possesses unimpeachable integrity and is passionate about fostering a culture of compliance.
  • Applies legal and business knowledge to identify key risks, develops mitigation, and provides solutions-based advice to business partners.
  • Handles matters independently and proactively consults with leadership on complex work.
  • Collaborates and provides input on complex projects impacting the business' functional strategic priorities.
  • Drafts and executes legal documents and gathers relevant case information using multiple sources and methods.
  • Monitors developments, including proposed legislation and court decisions, related to company activities to evaluate their impact upon operations.
  • Serves as a mentor to lower-level attorneys and staff. May manage 1-2 support staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
  • Other Juris Doctorate Degree from an ABA accredited school or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
  • 5-10 years practicing law in a law firm or in-house legal department
  • Ability to influence by translating legal risk to operational risk and providing practical solutions.
  • Effective, concise communicator.
  • Demonstrated legal writing skills
  • License to practice law in at least one state (or foreign jurisdiction, if lawyer is providing services to Company affiliates in that jurisdiction).
