Role Overview:
PPD has a new Corporate Counsel position available on our global legal team. This role performs a variety of complex legal activities to protect the organization's reputation and business interests and help ensure it complies with all relevant laws and regulations. You will provide legal advice within areas of expertise to management to ensure their activities, policies, business practices, and transactions are compliant.

The role is based in our offices in Raleigh, NC or Pittsburgh, PA. A hybrid work schedule is available, combining office days with some work at home days.

A day in the life:
  • Provides legal advice and represents the organization in a variety of legal matters.
  • Assesses legal risks and provides recommendations and alternative solutions to business leaders. Make recommendations to Management regarding risks and strategies upon request.
  • Supports legal needs in relevant function area.
  • Manages day-to-day legal inquiries.
  • Provides legal support for various corporate transactions, pending or threatened litigation, commercial disputes, employment matters, or other various corporate legal issues.
  • Serves as the primary contact for selected functional groups outside the legal department.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree and advanced degree in law (juris doctorate or equivalent educational model in other jurisdictions).
  • Previous legal experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 8 years).
  • In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

  • Comprehensive problem-solving techniques applicable to a constantly changing environment.
  • Experienced project management skills and the ability to work both independently and as a part of a cross-functional, global team.
  • Strong ability to apply knowledge of corporate and commercial risk and objectively evaluate fact patterns to advise on the application of the law and provide direction to other departments.
  • Analytical and decision-based thinking required to advise senior leadership on legal issues with potential for enterprise-wide impact.
