We are seeking a Corporate Counsel – Employment Law to join the Legal Department. This position will report to the Sr. Director, Legal – Corporate. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for providing legal counsel and strategic advice on all aspects of employment law, including day-to-day HR advisory work, HR related contracts, onboarding and offboarding, policy review and development and workplace compliance across U.S. and international locations.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role requiring a practical, business-oriented employment attorney who is comfortable operating as a trusted partner to HR and business leaders with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:
Employment Law
  • Serve as primary in-house employment law counsel, advising HR, management, and business leaders on a broad range of employment matters, including hiring and onboarding, as well as executive compensation matters.
  • A key part of this role is to advise on employment matters involving international subsidiaries and employees located in Europe and Asia, coordinating with local employment counsel as necessary across relevant jurisdictions.
  • Provide practical, timely guidance on federal, state, and local employment laws, including Title VII, the ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA, and applicable state equivalents.
  • Advise on leave of absence programs, accommodation requests, and related ADA and FMLA compliance matters.
  • Counsel HR and management on wage and hour compliance, classification of employees and independent contractors, and pay equity matters
  • Advise on cross-border employment issues, including expatriate and secondment arrangements and compliance with local labor laws. Support HR on international hiring, terminations, and restructuring activities, working with local counsel to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Partner with HR on the development, implementation, and revision of employment policies, employee handbooks, and workplace compliance programs.
  • Advise on executive employment agreements, offer letters, severance arrangements, and non-competition and non-solicitation agreements and draft, review, and negotiate general commercial contracts and vendor agreements in support of HR and business operations.
  • Support compensation related disclosures in public filings such as proxy statements
  • Support due diligence and provide employment law related advice in connection with M&A transactions

Workplace Compliance and Training

  • Monitor federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory developments affecting employment law and proactively advise HR and management on compliance obligations and required policy updates.
  • Design and deliver employment law training programs for HR professionals, managers, and employees on topics such as anti-harassment, workplace conduct, leave management, and wage and hour compliance.
  • Support audits and compliance reviews of employment practices, including I-9 and immigration-related compliance.
  • Partner with HR and Benefits on compliance matters related to employee benefit plans, including ERISA and ACA considerations, as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • J.D. with membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • 5+ years of employment law experience, with a combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred.
  • Substantial experience advising on a broad range of employment matters, including employee relations, workplace investigations, leaves of absence, wage and hour compliance, and separations.
  • Experience managing employment litigation and government agency proceedings, including oversight of outside counsel.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws across multiple U.S. jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice and to build effective relationships with HR and business partners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters independently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • In-house employment law experience at a public company, preferably in the healthcare technology, medical device, or digital health sectors.
  • Experience advising on employment matters in international jurisdictions, particularly EU or APAC.
  • Familiarity with immigration-related employment compliance, including I-9 and visa sponsorship processes.
  • Experience with employment aspects of M&A transactions, including HR due diligence and workforce integration.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Sr. Director, Legal – Corporate. The role is expected to collaborate closely with Human Resources, Finance, and Business Operations, and will interface regularly with senior management on employment-related matters.

Estimated Pay Range
$158,000.00 - $206,000.00
