Description:

About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a skilled, independent Family Law Attorney to assist our practice on a contract (1099), strictly hourly basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a solo practitioner looking to supplement their existing caseload or an experienced attorney seeking a highly flexible schedule with significant, reliable workflow.

This position offers a guaranteed minimum of 20 hours per week, with full-time hours readily available if desired. While the majority of the workflow is remote, the ideal candidate is locally based in or near the San Fernando Valley to accommodate occasional live court appearances when necessary.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Drafting & Legal Research: Prepare high-quality family law pleadings, Request for Orders (RFOs), supporting declarations, financial disclosures, and trial briefs.
  • Case Strategy & Analysis: Analyze discovery, review financial documents for asset tracing, and outline strategic pathways for marital dissolutions, custody disputes, and support modifications.
  • Court Appearances: Represent clients at hearings and status conferences. Most appearances are conducted remotely via CourtCall or LACourtConnect; however, occasional live appearances may be required at local Los Angeles County family courts (such as the Chatsworth or Stanley Mosk courthouses)

Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Licensure: Active license with the State Bar of California.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of dedicated California family law litigation experience. Must be fully competent with local rules and the California Family Code.
  • Technology: Must be proficient with local remote appearance platforms (LACourtConnect), legal software, and reliable secure internet access.

How to Apply:
Please submit your resume along with a brief introduction detailing your family law experience, your general weekly hourly availability, and your familiarity with the local LA County court systems. Additionally, please include 1 to 2 writing samples (such as a drafted Request for Order and supporting declaration) demonstrating your family law pleading capabilities.
