After establishing themselves as a premier immigration law firm in Washington DC, Motion Law have continued to expand their Family Law practice area since its' launch in late 2024 and are looking for a dynamic and driven Family Law Attorney to join the current successful team in Washington DC. This position is initially contractor based only but may lead to future employment.This is an occasional office-based opportunity located in DC. If you are looking for an opening offering flexibility, then this is the role for you. An active MD Bar is a requirement for all candidates, with DC / VA Bar an advantage.
Responsibilities:
- Experience of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, alimony, asset division, domestic violence, and prenuptial/postnuptial agreements.
- You should have strong legal research and analysis skills.
- Excellent in drafting legal documents such as motions and court orders
- Have strong negotiation skills to get the best possible settlements for clients.
- Keep clients updated on the progress of their case.
- Possess strong mediation skills.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Active MD Bar - law license, in good standing (required)
- 2-5 years' experience in DC family law practice
- Strong legal research and communication skills
- Be able to work independently and be a part of the current team
