Description:

The Dellutri Law Group, P.A. is growing, and we are looking for a Florida-licensed attorney to help lead our expanding consumer bankruptcy practice.

This is not a position where you will be handed a stack of files and expected to figure everything out on your own.

You will work with an established bankruptcy team that includes two experienced leaders, each with more than 20 years of experience in consumer bankruptcy. We have the systems, staff, and experience in place. We are looking for the right attorney to help manage the legal work, supervise the team, and grow with the practice.

Our bankruptcy practice currently brings in approximately 40 new matters each month, primarily Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases. The attorney in this position will take responsibility for those cases from consultation through the appropriate stages of the bankruptcy process, including handling Chapter 13 cases through confirmation.

What you will do:
You will be responsible for the legal work necessary to manage an active Florida consumer bankruptcy practice, including:
  • Conducting prospective-client and bankruptcy consultations
  • Advising clients regarding Chapter 7 and Chapter 13
  • Reviewing petitions, schedules, statements, Chapter 13 plans, and other bankruptcy filings
  • Preparing for and attending 341 meetings of creditors
  • Handling Chapter 13 confirmation hearings
  • Handling motions, objections, and other contested bankruptcy matters
  • Negotiating and communicating with Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 trustees and opposing counsel
  • Handling objections to claims and other routine bankruptcy motion practice
  • Handling adversary proceedings when necessary
  • Communicating directly with clients and helping them understand what is happening in their cases
  • Supervising and working closely with our experienced bankruptcy support team
  • Making sure cases move efficiently and deadlines do not get missed
  • Helping improve the systems and processes of a growing bankruptcy department

Who we are looking for:
You must be an active member of The Florida Bar.

Prior consumer bankruptcy experience is preferred, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right Florida attorney who demonstrates good judgment, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to learn consumer bankruptcy law.

You do not need to be an experienced trial lawyer. You do need to be comfortable appearing in court, handling motion practice, thinking on your feet, and taking responsibility for your cases.

The right person will be:
  • Highly organized
  • Accountable
  • Decisive
  • Comfortable managing a significant caseload
  • A strong communicator
  • Comfortable with technology and willing to learn new systems
  • Able to supervise and work collaboratively with an experienced support team
  • Compassionate with clients without losing the ability to give them clear and direct advice
  • Someone who takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do
  • Someone who can work as part of a team without bringing ego into the room

How We View Bankruptcy Clients

People rarely call a bankruptcy attorney because everything in their lives is going well.

They may be facing foreclosure, lawsuits, garnishments, repossessions, overwhelming debt, or simply the realization that they can no longer keep doing what they have been doing.

We believe our job involves more than preparing petitions and getting cases confirmed.

Our job is to help people understand their options, make good decisions, and find a clear path forward.

That means we expect our attorneys to know their cases and know their clients. We want an attorney who can handle a busy practice without allowing the volume of work to turn people into file numbers.

An Experienced Team Behind You
One of the most important things to understand about this position is that you will not be building a bankruptcy practice from scratch.

Our bankruptcy support team includes two leaders who each have more than 20 years of consumer bankruptcy experience.

They understand the process. They understand the trustees. They understand the paperwork. They understand how to move cases through the system.

We are looking for an attorney who will respect that experience, work collaboratively with the team, provide legal leadership, and take responsibility for the legal work.
