Description:

Hackett Feinberg P.C., a 30+ attorney Boston law firm, is seeking a mid-level associate with 3+ years of experience to join our busy commercial lending, real estate and loan workout practice. This attorney should preferably have experience in both commercial lending and commercial real estate finance transactions. Our attorneys enjoy a hybrid work schedule with some remote and some in-office work.

The position includes the following skills, knowledge and qualities, among others:
  • Review the lender's credit approval requirements and prepare loan documents for the transaction
  • Determine necessary due diligence searches and review results
  • Review and negotiate lender's title insurance policies for real estate collateral
  • Determine and arrange proper perfection of lender's security interest in personal property collateral in accordance with the requirements of the Uniform Commercial Code
  • Negotiate loan documents with Borrower's counsel and other third parties involved in the collateral
  • Review organizational and other authority documents related to transaction
  • Prepare and negotiate Subordination Non-disturbance and Attornment Agreements with respect to tenants for commercial real estate collateral
  • Prepare and/or review and negotiate zoning and land use opinions related to real estate collateral
  • Prepare and negotiate participation and syndication agreements with other lenders
  • Prepare and/or review and negotiate intercreditor agreements with subordinate and mezzanine lenders
  • Prepare forbearance, loan modification and settlement documentation related to troubled loan workouts
  • Exhibit the following personal qualities: an ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously; enthusiasm and responsiveness, with a commitment to a team-based working environment; meticulous attention to details and strong organizational skills; willingness to take on new tasks (over time) of increasing scope and sophistication relating to the Firm's commercial/corporate lending and real estate areas; and excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Be available to work in Boston, Massachusetts

Qualifications:
  • Law firm experience in commercial lending, commercial real estate finance transactions, or loan workouts
  • Admission to the Massachusetts state bar
  • Experience in the areas of affordable housing and community development an asset but not a requirement
  • Willingness to participate in client development efforts and desire to become a business originator
