Position Summary:Spencer Fane has an opening in our New York office for a Commercial Litigation attorney with 2-5 years of experience. An ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of phases of commercial litigation, such as legal research, drafting and responding to discovery requests, preparing pleadings, drafting motions, and assisting with depositions and/or court proceedings. Prior law firm experience and/or clerkship is expected.
This position will join a team of attorneys in the Litigation Department in the New York office of a full-service law firm. The Litigation Department represents both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of commercial and other civil litigation matters in state and federal courts and arbitration, including contracts, business torts, employment disputes, and shareholder and partnership disputes, among other matters. The position will have the opportunity to gain direct, hands-on experience, working closely with the partner on the matter, in all phases of matters, from factual investigation and developing strategy, to communicating with clients and opposing counsel, to depositions, to attending court for motions and proceedings.
The Qualifications Below Are Required:
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school with an excellent academic record
- Admission to the New York bar and in good standing
- Ability to interface directly with attorneys and clients
- Demonstrate an ability to work independently and productively
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving and organization skills
- Outstanding judgment
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects
- Ability to develop and implement legal strategies

Compensation: $175,000 - $210,000, commensurate with experience, plus the potential to earn significant quarterly bonuses based on productivity.
