Position Summary, Responsibilities and Qualifications
A Business Law Firm's Captive Insurance Practice Has Been Actively Involved in The Development of Alternative Risk Financing Strategies Since 1975. These Include Programs Providing Coverage for Professional Liability, Errors and Omissions Liability, General Liability, Workers Compensation, Products Liability, Directors and Officers Liability, and Specialized Products, Such as Environmental Impairment Liability and Government Program Compliance Fines and Penalties Exposure. Our Attorneys Also Possess Knowledge of The Commercial Insurance Environment and Are Familiar with The Actuarial Process Utilized in Self-Insurance and Other Risk Retention Devices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in The Formation and Licensing of Captive Insurance Companies and Related Entities, Including:
    • Drafting and Reviewing Business Entity Formation Documents, Governance Materials, Service Agreements, and Regulatory Filings;
    • Supporting Compliance with State Insurance Regulations, Corporate Governance Requirements, and Ongoing Entity Maintenance; And
    • Conducting Legal Research and Collaborating with Other Attorneys Across Practice Areas Including Tax, Healthcare, and Corporate.
  • Deliver High Quality Work-Product and Effectively Communicate at All Levels of A Business Law Firm and Its Clients;
  • Demonstrate Excellent Problem-Solving Skills and High Energy and Enthusiasm for Counseling in The Relevant Client Sector;
  • Exhibit Highly Responsive, Creative and Efficient Work Habits;
  • Strive to Continuously Improve Knowledge, Skills and Abilities and Seek Guidance and Feedback to Improve Performance and Productivity;
  • Take Responsibility for Enhancing Expertise, in Addition to Seeking out Formal and Informal Training;

Qualifications:
  • 1-3 Years of Corporate And/or Corporate Healthcare Experience; Prior Exposure to Insurance-Related Work Is a Not Required but Is a Plus;
  • Ability to Organize and Prioritize Numerous Tasks and Complete Them Under Significant Time Constraints;
  • Outstanding Interpersonal, Analytical, Organizational, and Communication (written and Verbal) Skills Required;
  • J.D. Degree from An Aba-Accredited Institution;
  • Licensed Illinois, Michigan, Vermont, or Washington, Dc Attorney in Good Standing (or with Ability to Waive Into One of These Jurisdictions); And
  • Ability to Travel Domestically and Internationally as Client Needs Require.
