The Office of the Capital Collateral Regional Counsel – Middle Region (“CCRC-M”) anticipates an opening for a full-time capital post-conviction Investigator position in Tampa, Florida. CCRC-M advocates for indigent persons sentenced to death in the State of Florida in their state and federal post-conviction proceedings. Capital investigations involve the development of psycho-social histories of clients. Applicants preferably should have an education and/or background in the Behavioral Sciences.

Requirements: All applicants must have graduated from an accredited school with a bachelor's degree. Those with degrees in Social Work, Sociology and/or Psychology are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a Law Enforcement or an investigative background are a plus.

Job Duties: CCRC-M investigators are responsible for gathering facts and mitigation information about our clients and their cases. General areas of responsibility include: Locating and interviewing witnesses; writing reports; drafting declarations; serving subpoenas; developing a relationship with clients; interviewing clients' friends and family members; collecting documents; reviewing trial evidence; and working with attorneys and experts to develop mitigation themes.

A high level of computer literacy is required, and applicants must be able to organize work and set priorities to meet critical deadlines. This position may require extensive travel. Applicant must have a valid Florida Driver License and registered vehicle for transportation. It may also require occasionally working beyond business hours, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays. This position may also require lifting and moving heavy objects up to 35lbs as well as standing for periods of time. A background investigation is required as a condition of employment.
