What You'll Be Doing:
You'll manage a meaningful caseload while working alongside a collaborative legal team committed to changing lives.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct in-depth client consultations to evaluate eligibility and develop legal strategies
- Successfully convert consultations into retained clients with a minimum 40% conversion rate
- Manage a caseload consisting primarily of U Visas, VAWA, T Visas, TPS, waivers, family-based petitions, naturalization, DACA, RFEs, NOIDs, and I-290B Motions
- Prepare and file immigration forms, legal briefs, motions, appeals, and supporting documentation for USCIS
- Represent clients at USCIS interviews when requested
- Research complex legal issues and develop effective legal strategies
- Stay current on immigration law and policy changes and share updates with the legal team
- Mentor and support paralegals and legal assistants assigned to your cases
- Mentor new attorneys (attorney coaching)
- Communicate regularly with clients, providing updates and guidance throughout the immigration process
- Communicate professionally with USCIS and other government agencies
- Maintain exceptional organization while managing a high-volume caseload and meeting strict deadlines
- Participate in regular team meetings and collaborate with attorneys and staff to continuously improve client outcomes
In addition to managing your own caseload, you'll play a key role in strengthening our legal team and ensuring exceptional client representation across the firm. This position is expected to take ownership of:
- Attorney coaching by providing guidance, feedback, and support to attorneys to strengthen legal skills and professional development.
- Legal consistency by promoting uniform legal strategies, drafting standards, and best practices across the firm.
- File audits through regular reviews of attorney case files to ensure quality, accuracy, compliance, and timely case progression.
- Case strategy by collaborating with attorneys on complex legal issues and developing effective strategies for challenging cases.
- CLE and internal training by leading or coordinating continuing legal education, sharing updates on changes in immigration law, and developing training resources for the legal team.
- Attorney KPIs by helping monitor attorney performance metrics, productivity, case quality, consultation conversion, and other key performance indicators that support firm goals.
- Mentoring new attorneys by assisting with onboarding, training, and developing newer lawyers to ensure they become confident, effective advocates for our clients.

What Makes You a Great Fit

Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Licensed attorney in good standing with any U.S. state bar (Illinois preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years of immigration law experience required
- Strong experience handling humanitarian immigration cases, including U Visas, VAWA, T Visas, RFEs, NOIDs, I-290B Motions, and waivers
- Fluency in both English and Spanish (required)
- Strong legal writing, analytical, and research skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload
- Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with support staff
- Experience with case management software (CampLegal preferred but not required)
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion with confidential information
- Comfortable adapting to changes in immigration law and implementing new legal strategies
